What (and Who) Is The Psychology Reader?
Let the reading rumpus begin . . .
Welcome!
So what is The Psychology Reader? It is a monthly newsletter that connects psychology, books, and the art of being human. It’s a space to build your psychological literacy while also reveling in the wonders of books and learning and living life. Come here often to discover and grow. You’ll be the delight of all social gatherings when you can say, “Guess what I read recently!” followed by some fascinating psychological tidbit.
The Psychology Reader, however, is not a book review site. The only books shared are ones that are deeply appreciated and recommended. It’s all book love, all day long! And psychology can be found in both non-fiction and fiction reads as well as in a variety of genres including memoir, humor, essays, and more. All books are fair game for psychological analysis!
Who, then, is The Psychology Reader? Well, it’s me - Dr. Mary Anne Duggan. And I’ve loved books for as long as I remember . . .

I am a psychology professor at Glendale Community College in Arizona, where I teach courses in Positive Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Introduction to Statistics. And, as you may have gathered, I have this little book addiction . . .
Alongside book recommendations on this site are personal essays on teaching, learning, and living in the Life Between the Pages series.
But do you know who else is The Psychology Reader? You are! You came here because you have an interest in - or, dare I dream, a thirst for - psychology. So let’s get reading!
