Welcome!
So what is The Psychology Reader? It is a monthly newsletter with reading recommendations for anyone interested in all things psychology. It’s a space to build your psychological literacy while also reveling in the wonders of books and reading. Come here often to discover and learn and grow. You’ll be the delight of all social gatherings when you can say, “Guess what I read recently!” followed by some fascinating psychological tidbit.
The Psychology Reader, however, is not a book review site. The only books shared will be ones that are deeply appreciated and recommended. It’s all book love, all day long! Some books will be hot off the “New Nonfiction” shelf at your local (hopefully indie) bookshop. Others will be older editions that deserve another day in the literary sun.
Who, then, is The Psychology Reader? Well, it’s me - Dr. Mary Anne Duggan. And I’ve loved books for as long as I remember . . .
Stumbled on this display on a side street in Coimbra, Portugal in June 2022
I am a psychology professor at Glendale Community College in Arizona, where I teach courses in Positive, Health, and Educational Psychology as well as Introduction to Statistics. And, as you may have gathered, I have this little book addiction . . .
Alongside book recommendations will be entries about “life between the pages.” Here I’ll share inspiration for building and maintaining a reading habit in all genres.
But do you know who else is The Psychology Reader? You are! You came here because you have an interest in - or, dare I dream, a thirst for - psychology. So let’s get reading!
